July post-birthday report.
Since May, eh? I guess it's been awhile. Where to start?
How about May 23? That's the day that my beautiful grandson, Conner Gregory Nelson was born!! There should be a picture of him somewhere. How about here?

After a little first-time-parents uncertainty, Theresa and Robin and Conner are doing just fine.

Two days later, on May 25, 2007, I attended a meeting in Ellison Bay, WI where Jeff C., the delegate from Area 74 (Northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan) presented me with a medallion commemorating 20 years of continuous sobriety. It happens one day at a time. I am so grateful for the way I have grown in these two decades of sobriety.

On Father's day, we visited Geoff and Laura at Geoff's house and had a nice visit. The day before we had attended the graduation party for Jocelyn Possley, my neice, at the home of my brother, John. We put on a lot of miles that weekend.

One June 23, I got to do a gig with my guitar at the District 37 workshop in New Lisbon. I had the chords and lyrics sheets for about a dozen songs which I performed using my Taylor 210e, my Fender Acoustasonic amp and my microphone. The people ( only a dozen or two) seemed to enjoy my singing and playing and I was on Cloud Nine. Never met a microphone I didn't love.

On my birthday, I played golf at Camelot Golf Club near Lomira with my son Geoff, his future brother in law, Clint Brightman and Clint's friend Tim. I think my 84 was the best score of the foursome and I was pleased with it.

On Friday, July 6, Liz and I went down to Rutabaga in Madison and I tried out some kayaks. I decided upon the Pungo 120 after trying out three different models in the waterway that runs behind the store. Here's a photo of my present.

We spent the weekend at the home of Theresa and Robin and Conner and had a nice visit. Geoff and Laura were also down for the weekend. I got to try out my kayak for the first time in the Sugar River above the dam in Albany. On Sunday, we stayed and watched the final round of the US Senior Open which was held at Whistling Straits north of Sheboygan. Liz and I had gone to the opening round of practice the previous Monday so it was fun to watch the players that we had seen in person on the course we had just walked.

So, I've been to the AA General Service Conference, celebrated 20 years sober, celebrated the birth of my first grandchild and turned into a sexagenarian. What a year! And I still have Geoff and Laura's September wedding to look forward to. Life is sooooo good!

Thank you Lord!

Ciao, babies!
